Proving the relationship<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -.25in; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo1;\">1.<span style=\"font-style: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-weight: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><u>Submitting an application<\/u> and paying a government fee to the USCIS with supporting documents that show the qualifying relationship between the sponsor (US citizen\/LPR) and the beneficiary (relative being sponsored).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -.25in; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo1;\">2.<span style=\"font-style: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-weight: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><u>Receipt notice<\/u> \u2013 after the application is submitted, the first thing we receive from the USCIS is a receipt notice that acknowledges the government fee was paid and the application received.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -.25in; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><u>Approval Notice<\/u> \u2013 The application needs to be processed by the USCIS, after the application is processed, we receive an approval notice. This finishes step 1 and allows us to apply for an immigrant visa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -.25in; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo1;\">4.<span style=\"font-style: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-weight: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><u>Waiting for the file to be current<\/u> \u2013 With family-based petitions, the US prioritizes different types of family relationships, and the preference classification will determine how long the beneficiary will need to wait for there to be a visa available for them.
